My Lord of Oxenford's Maske: Edward de Vere and his circle
Our third release features English songs with poetry attributed to Oxford and lute solos with dedications bearing his name. Also included are several lute solos and duets from the famous Folger lute manuscript, including a few familiar favorites and a handful of world premieres.
Meic Goodyear of Lute News (UK) says:
"...Mignarda make the song ['O mistress mine'] wistful and reflective...turning a piece so familiar it's almost hackwork into something of heart-stopping beauty....Stewart...is simply astonishing. Conversational, dramatic, or elegiac as the lyrics dictate, never out of balance with her accompanist, she decorates and varies as naturally as a sean nos singer, with perfect diction and a real concern to communicate the meaning of the words." another review
